Preloaded Mortars

Preloaded Mortars

A Preloaded Mortar, also known as an Aerial Shell, is a spherical or cylindrical-shaped shell propelled into the air from a mortar (tube) that is packed with only one shell (usually made of thick cardboard) and is discarded after a single use. Once in the air, the shell bursts to create an aerial effect such as a peony or a chrysanthemum. Preloaded aerial shells range from 1 3/4" to 3" in diameter.
